參加私人或公共社交活動，不論是婚宴（Wedding party/reception）或是
公司的招待會（reception），常有舉杯慶祝的機會，今日我們來討論「干杯」
的相關說法：
若是要提議舉杯慶祝，可用“propose a toast”一詞；其中“propose”為
提議，是動詞，而“toast”是指舉杯慶賀的動作（當然也可指食物類的土司），
是名詞，例如：
Ladies and gentlemen，I would like to propose a toast.
若要請大家舉杯，也可用動詞“raise”，如：
Ladies and gentlemen，please raise your glasses.
若要表明舉杯致意的對象或慶祝的原因，在“toast”后加上“to”（介系詞），如：
Dear fellow investors，I would like to propose a toast to our
brilliant management team/our harvest year.
（中譯：親愛的各位投資人，我想提議向我們卓越的管理團隊
舉杯致意/舉杯慶祝我們豐收的一年）
若是要碰杯慶祝，說聲「干杯！」，英文則用“cheers”。若要說敬某某人，
只要用“to”（介系詞）加上對象即可，如“to Mr. Johnson/Vanessa/Michael Li”。
若舉杯是要祝福對方，則可用助動詞“May”置于祝詞前，如：
May you enjoy great health！
May your love last forever！
May you have a wonderful marriage！
May you have another prosperous year！
而干杯往往要一飲而盡，在中西方皆然，若要表示一杯見底可用動詞
“empty”，如：
Let’s empty this shot and stay drunk tonight.
